Birdy pick of the week

I spotted these super-sweet 'matchbox tweeters' (hand-crafted wee birdies tucked snugly inside vintage matchboxes) when I visited Frank in Whitstable on the weekend. They're made by British designer Abigail Brown, and are for sale on Etsy for US$35. Check out her other charming hand-crafted creatures:

Oh, and Frank shop tour coming soon (it's really quite lovely).

Frank is fabulous isn’t it? I drool over the Julie Arkell and Rob Ryan stuff of course, but there are so many other treats tucked away there.

The thing I love the most is the textural use of the fabric and thread – none of that beautifully ‘finished’ milarkey. More a feathery, characterful spontaneity.

Ooh Frank was on my list of shops to visit after I’d seen the goodies on their website, can’t wait for your shop tour :)

Super Sweet. I have heard of people using these at weddings on top of their cake instead of those naff little bride and groom figures.

Frank’s a great little shop, they stock loads of my fav artists works. Loving the standing birds, they’re so delicate looking.

Delicious, Kate and Ali: wow, so Frank has left quite an impression, then. It’s been on my must-visit list for over a year now (ever since the Guardian covered it) so it was good to finally make it to Whitstable.
Gourmet Chick: if I had my time again I’d def go for wee birdies on top of the cake.
Myrtle and Eunice – exactly, very well put indeed.
British Beauty Blogger – shall have to check her out, thanks for the tip!
    xx
