    Did you have a street party for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee? Did you beat the rain?

    I love this photo of a 1953 street party celebrating the Queen's coronation in Heriot Hill Terrace, Broughton (via Edinphoto). Look at the party hats! And the line-up of glass bottles with straws in them. I wonder what's in the parcels wrapped up with string? It led me to search for more historic street parties in Britain - there are some real beauties. I've assembled my favourite ones in this gallery. Enjoy!
